Las Vegas is a year-round destination that averages 320 days of sun annually. Note: Summer temperatures in Las Vegas regularly rise above 100 degrees Fahrenheit.
CURRENCY EXCHANGE
Most banks, hotels and resorts offer foreign money exchange. Although many casino cashiers will accept foreign currency and exchange it for U.S. dollars, you cannot purchase foreign currency from them. In hotels or resorts, visit guest services or the front desk.
GENERAL TIPS
-
Try to plan what you want to see and do in advance, but don't overschedule.
-
Bring plenty of film because Las Vegas is filled with photo ops. Most "disposable" cameras will produce great pictures if you're outdoors.
-
Use sunscreen, wear a hat and drink plenty of water when you're outdoors, even if you're not at the pool.
-
Wear comfortable clothes and shoes.
-
Take a break or do something indoors (visit a shopping mall or go to a movie) during the hottest part of the day.
-
Keep an eye out for coupon books and discounts for theme parks, attractions, restaurants, etc.
-
Ask about discounts for seniors, students, Nevada residents, etc., at theme parks and attractions.

MAKING RESERVATIONS
If you’re traveling during a peak season, be sure to secure your reservations as soon as possible. If you wait too long for airline and car rental reservations, they may be completely booked or fairly expensive. Also, if you have pets and plan to board them in a kennel while you’re gone, you should make arrangements as early as possible.
STAYING SAFE
-
Don’t allow children to swim in pools without adult supervision – not even for a short time!
-
Dress children in bright colors that you can spot easily in a crowd, and take note of the colors they are wearing.
-
Teach your children the rules of safety such as how to ask for help if they are separated from you.
-
Avoid leaving valuables such as cash, jewelry and credit cards in your hotel room while you’re out.
-
Don’t display cash in public.
-
Use travelers checks as much as possible since you can get your money back if they are lost or stolen.
SUN SAFETY
-
Avoid sun exposure during the hottest hours of the sun’s rays.
-
Apply sunscreen with a SPF (Sun Protection Factor) of at least 15, paying special attention to the face, nose, ears and shoulders.
-
Wear a hat and sunglasses with UV (Ultraviolet) protection.
-
Drink plenty of water and noncarbonated drinks, even if you do not feel thirsty.
